Audience Member Super Spook is one of, if not the first, parody of the blaxploitation genre. The film was made by a group of amateur filmmakers in 9 days with no money, no script and no crew. It was also all shot on location in Harlem. It was originally released in 1972 in a shorter version, but was recently released on home video for the first time in its original uncut form. But is all of this really worth the trouble? Well, yes and no. It's amazing to think that these guys just went out and shot this thing in a week and got everything that they needed to put a film together. On the other hand, it's not a successful comedy at all. The trailer for the film is actually better than the movie, and has all of the best moments from the film. I have admit that I was bored most of the time, but little lines or characters here and there would rekindle my interest, but never enough. I'm glad that this has distribution and can be seen by everyone. I just don't know that I would recommend it to anyone. It's rough around the edges, but fans of the genre might want to take a peek.
