Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Mike M A pleasant if lightweight romcom of the star-crossed lovers kind... In so far as Singh's film can be said to support an earthly theme, this is it: the abuse of the arranged marriage system by ex-pats who marry local girls so as to provide their parents with unpaid domestic labour, while they themselves return to what one wedding planner here describes as "the shackles of fair-skinned women". Thus our Westernised hero has to prove himself worthy of, if not Mother India, then at least one of her daughters - which he does by means of a literal return to the land. This may, admittedly, be ascribing too much significance to fluff: mostly, "Tera Mera"'s an excuse for its two B- and C-list leads - the one reassuringly ordinary-looking, introduced with a Skoda logo across his forehead; the other making a fair bid to pick up any roles Preity Zinta might now pass on - to make goo-goo eyes at one another for close to three hours. A thick vein of sappiness runs close to its surface, and it's as predictable as all heck, but a couple of the musical numbers have a legitimate wedding-party exuberance about them, and it's plenty bright: even the turbans are colour-coordinated. Choice lyric: "My God, how shall I praise the enticing movement of her waist?" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/09 Full Review Audience Member interusting movie.....
