06/22/2015 one of the better Houdini silents See more 06/03/2015 A simple no brained action film which was the third entry of Magician Master Harry Houdini who was a much better magician that actor. The story of this film is pretty straight forward treasure hunt, bandits & a dangerous unknown island. Most notable would be some of the real life escape stunts performed by Houdini. Not a cinematic treasure but interesting to see the master at work & has some clever underwater filming & Camera Trick photography for the periscope scenes. Nothing really innovative, prett average adventure storyline, but those silent movie stunt people really risked everything! Unfortunately, the surviving print is missing two important reels that contained a few of Houdini's most lavish stunts - but what remains is still a supremely entertaining potboiler full of pulp thrills, and an interesting look at the escapist storytelling of another era.
