Audience Member Very Silverlake indi- Loved the blac kand white shots, the narrative was good too! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member A remarkable use of a microscopic budget to create a unique, funny little mystery/comedy indie trip with something to say. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review rachel w fun, hilarious and ahead of its time with its pitch perfect skewering of mumblecore. manages to both honor and parody the noir genre. big fan, looking forward to whatever these guys do next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/17/12 Full Review Audience Member Interesting story, but could have been better if it didn't have the home-movie/low budget feel throughout. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member I remember my friend Brandon saying that the film isn't something he has really ever seen before. I agree. The film has a very original story in comparison to the majority of indie comedies you'll find, but the film doesn't do anything with it's original story. It starts off very well & after about 30 minutes it just gets very predictable, over-directed & cliched. A film like this deserves to have a solid script to work with, & i'm afraid it doesn't. The dialogue in the film works at points & feels very forced at others. While I did like some of the things in here, & I do appreciate the more self-aware feel that the film has, I can't help but to judge the film for it's flaws which prevents me from enjoying it as much as I wanted to. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/24/23 Full Review Audience Member The critics don't know what they're talking about. Hilariously on point. Characters spend so much time manufacturing drama for their film noir "reality" project that they are callously oblivious to the true real-life drama of women being murdered in actual reality. Everyone is either in film or in a band...even the police. So LA. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Andy Webster New York Times The writer-director Todd Berger parades his stylistic chops with his self-satisfied, vrit-ish comedy "The Scenesters," a tepid show-business satire. Rated: 2/5 Aug 18, 2011 Full Review Sheri Linden Los Angeles Times Audiences will shrug at the mystery's solution but likely will be eager to see what Berger & Co. do next. Rated: 3/5 Aug 19, 2010 Full Review Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This jumbled satirical mystery is too pleased with itself for its own good. Aug 19, 2010 Full Review Allen Almachar The MacGuffin There's a little bit of everything for everyone to enjoy. Rated: B+ Aug 13, 2020 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com Likely to be rejected as a labored, smug, and ultimately inert neo-noir crime comedy, a movie far too wrapped in its own cleverness to engage the viewer with anything above rampaging self-awareness. Rated: D Mar 27, 2011 Full Review Brent Simon Shared Darkness Not perfect, but a fun and rangy, noir-tinged murder comedy. The Scenesters has in abundance what every independent film yearns for -- intrigue and a cocksure rhythm that doesn't ever feel false. Rated: B Aug 25, 2010 Full Review Read all reviews
