J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The movie so often lapses into cliche—shutters closing as neighbors look away from a crime, a jump cut to scattering birds as a fatal shot is fired—that the drama begins to feel canned. Musetto New York Post Rated: 2/4 Apr 12, 2011 Full Review Jason Bailey DVDTalk.com Rated: 3/5 Apr 12, 2011 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com While it may have a seemingly noteworthy subject matter, The Sicilian Girl is as trite as television movie of the week. Rated: 2/5 Nov 19, 2020 Full Review Kate Rodger Newshub (NZ) A rawness to a film can often work in its favor, especially with stories like this one, but not in this case. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 31, 2019 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row The story's inherent tension is rendered dramatically inert, a victim of its own awkward staging and misguided attempts at emotional posturing. Audience Member Comes out a bit as tv movie, but the flaws makes it even more realistic in the depiction of mafia life and the rebellion of the girl. This is not the story of a mob girl not obeying to Omerta. It is the story of a girl that didn't know she was born in the mafia and despised everything about them for good reasons! In Italy, there was manifestations anti-mafia. Frankly, I wonder why the mafia is not fought better and harder by everyone. People, and the police, don't care about all the evil that come from them. That is of course because of the bribes and the profits, and their own psychopathy. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member I shouldn't rate it at all, but got to be honest... I can't do subtitles. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a really great movie and the sub titles were no problem. Rita was a strong courageous young woman who had a very difficult 17 years. She did the right thing and lost everything and everyone and then finally her life. A very sad story yet inspiring at the same time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Lucas Z Not your typical mob movie...not even sure if anybody would consider this a mob movie. This film is more of a tale about the mob from an individual's perspective outside the mob. Regardless, this film is intriguing and it was enjoyable to watch. The fact that it was based on a true story just makes it more awesome! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/13 Full Review Audience Member Amazing movie. So sad at the end. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Italian movie based on a true story. Beautiful story about 17-years old Rita's fight against mafia first only to revenge, then for justice. Cast is okay and so is the directing. Story moves like it should and after you've seen it, you think for a while. And that's who you know a good movie. They make you think about things. Ending is touching and leaves you with strong feeling. My favorite performance in this movie is by Lucia Sardo who plays Rita's mother and Don Michele's wife. She nails it!
