Paris police chief Fernand Maubert (Eric Portman) is engaged in an endless game of cat and mouse with crafty bank robber Philippe Lodocq (Guy Rolfe). Along the way, Maubert falls in love with the criminal's female accomplice, Madeleine Saincaize (Nadia Gray), who still aids Lodocq, despite their relationship. The policeman's pursuit of the criminal eventually gives way to World War I, at which point the latter's talents make him the perfect man for a critical mission.
