Gary D A great cast given little to do. I wish the script was better. I can forgive the cheap special effects. It is a great idea that was not given a chance. John Astin as Dr. Frieden has some good moments. John McGiver as uncle George gives a fine performance. But with this cast I wanted more from the movie than I got. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/04/22 Full Review Audience Member A delightful comedy in which a couple and their teenage son rent a house for the summer only to discover that the house is haunted. William Castle--best known for such classic horror films as The House on Haunted Hill and Thirteen Ghosts--uses this comedy to parody his own movies and along the way delivers some great laughs and spooky fun. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member watching this movie, funny!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member I loved this movie when I was a kid and had the biggest crush on Jill Townsend..I haven't seen it years but now thanks to Olive Films putting out a bluray of it,I can enjoy it whenever the spirit moves me. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member I GREW UP WITH THIS MOVIE AFTER SEEING IT IN 1967(AGE 8) I CAUGHT IT ON T.V. THROUGHOUT THE SEVENTIES AND FINALLY GOT A COPY OF MY OWN...IN 2005 I RECIEVED AN ORIGINAL MOVIE POSTER FROM A CO-WORKER. IT IS OLD FASHIONED FAMILY FARE...GREAT FOR THE KIDS AND ANYONE WHO CAN LAUGH AT GREAT COMEDIANS LIKE SID CAESAR AND BARRY GORDON. JOHN ASTIN(MR. ADDAMS FROM THE ADDAMS FAMILY) IS A SHRINK AND THE GHOSTS ARE MIMES BUT VERY FUNNY. THE ENTIRE MOVIE IS A GAS AS 16 YEAR OLD STEVE(BARRY GORDON) WOULD SAY...WEIRDSVILLE! IF YOU LIKE THE GHOST AND MR, CHICKEN YOU'LL LOVE WILLIAM CASTLE'S THE SPIRIT IS WILLING! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Fun, unsophistocated VERY 60's slapstick comedy featuring Sid Caesar and family (Wife Vera Miles, and ultra-whiny schmendrick-son Barry Gordon-) who rent an old New England house to get away from the hustle-bustle of city life, only to encounter a trio of rowdy and randy ghosts who were involved in a love triangle in their corporeal lives. Hokey, yet very enjoyable, with a dream cast of very recognizable character faces of the day: Mary Wickes, Jesse White, John Astin, Harvey Lembeck, Jay C. Flippen, and especially the wonderfully buck-toothed 1940's comedienne Cass Daley as the most violent of the sparring specters. Perfect Halloween fare!
