Audience Member Slow and downbeat short films, but quite affecting too. It would not have been nice to be Robert Tucker, and thankfully for director Terence Davies this was only semi-autobiographical and somewhere along the way he escaped Tucker's fate. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Tattoo his bollocks? Gay sex dreams in a church confessional? Terence Davies' short trilogy based very autobiographically is an incredible abstract and disturbing look into one man's life and death. Of course, the first part and second, "Children" and "Child and Madonna" are loosely based on Davies' life, his fears and his insecurities full out. But in "Death And Transfiguration" is his fear of the future, the agonizing pain of sickness and death. Doesn't this sound like something for everyone to watch? Probably not. But it is one of the greatest trilogies from one of the greatest British directors. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member a beautifully-interwoven self-confessed memoir of one's life. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member Bleak and brave. I'm not certain whether I could ever have the courage to show my deepest shame and torment for others. For this, my admiration goes to Davies and his personal shorts. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member 3 stories with the next being worst than the previous. The first one was interesting, the second almost bearable and the third awful. At the end it felt like a waste of time... Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Audience Member if you consider yourself a cinefil you have to see this one, if not all of terence davies filmography. stuggling in the abyss of his personal demons, davies takes you on a tormenting emotional trip, you wont be able to forget (or want to forget for that matter).
