Audience Member This movie was awesome! I really liked it! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member Before gaining international fame for her collaberation as an actress in the films of one of the greastest masters of cinema, Ingmar Bergman, Liv Ullmann was already a coming star in her native Norway, probably best known for her nude scenes in Edith Carlmar's Ung Flukt which marked the end of Carlmar's career as the comic, social and satirical director, who was called "The First Lady of Norwegian Cinema". But this film also marks the begining of the promising actress Liv Ullman in her first feature role. Ung Flukt is the story about Anders (Atle Merton), who comes from an upper-middle class family, has fallen in love with the lower class girl, Gerd (Liv Ullmann) who's a restless teenager who loves a night on the town. After a broken appointment, where both agree to go the movies, Gerd didn't show up, and Anders finds her dunk with a bunch of other guys at the harbor. It is from then, Anders decides to take Gerd away from this environment and take her to the country side to his parents cabin, where there's no such thing as electricity, coca-cola and cigarettes, things that Gerd is used to. At first it seems like Gerd have found inner peace, but she also misses the life in the city. But suddenly a drifter named Bendik (Rolf Søder) appears and seems to be more masculine and dominant than Anders, and it seems like Gerd also find the drifter interesting. Liv Ullmann certainly delivers a great performance, In her first feature film, you can see that she's really into her character, and her restlessness and her exotic dancing is really memorable, but there's also a memorable performance by Rolf Søder as the charismatic, bad boy performance that Ullmann's characters falls for. Specially in a scene where Søder is imitating a grouse doing a mating call, while Ullmann is answers him by imitating a female grouse. A good film with a good story, even though Ullmann's character seems kind of sadistic when she ask Anders to kill a sheep to prove his love, and we some times questions our self, if they really fits together, and the fact that the movie has an happy ending, makes it's even more uncertain. But overall it's a good film with an extraordinary cast and it's especially worth checking out. Thumbs up. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
