Richard Brody The New Yorker The air of authenticity is amplified by the earnest agony of Stockwell's performance as a naïve public servant increasingly tormented by guilt. Oct 12, 2020 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Mixing a Hollywood monster with a political monster is a promising idea, but this low-budget lycanthrope yarn plays like amateur hour nearly every step of the way. Rated: 1.5/4 Apr 1, 2023 Full Review David Cornelius DVDTalk.com There's nothing fun or kitschy or silly about The Werewolf of Washington. There is only badness. And not the good kind. David W Always good to see Dean Stockwell but it's a fairly terrible, very light horror comedy. It's also very slow and overly 'talkie'. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 06/13/24 Full Review Steve D Cheese and surprisingly slow cheese. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/05/23 Full Review Butler C We've all said "this is the worst movie I've ever seen" but this this time I mean it. I love a good spoof, so I waited a good hour…no spoof ever came. It just continued on as the worst werewolf movie ever made! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review Gary D Quite possibly the worst movie I've seen in years. Acting, script, effects, direction are all extremely bad. Absolutely painful to watch. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/22 Full Review Audience Member An extremely goofy political satire. I didn't know going in it was going to be a straight up cheap comedy, made by what seems to have been a bunch of hippies on acid. That said, there's a few chuckles to be had at the absurdity. Watching the DVD with interruptions from Elvira made it infinitely more watchable. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/20 Full Review Audience Member Dean Stockwell stars an as American journalist working in Hungary. He's called back to the States to take a job with the President, and on the way home he's bitten by a werewolf. I suppose this is supposed to be a horror comedy, but it's a little difficult to tell. There are quite a few things in this film that are funny, but that doesn't seem to be intentional. There's also a bunch of stuff that seems like it's supposed to be funny and isn't. It's an undeniably weird film. A good 1/3 of the film takes place in public bathrooms and it's really not clear why. (A highlight of the film is the President spending a good 5 minutes of screen time trying to open the door to a bathroom stall, unawares that Stockwell is hiding in it.) The White House inexplicably has a huge basement filled with generators and Stockwell (in werewolf form) encounters a midget scientist with a Frankenstein monster ... which is never spoken of again. It's a terrible film, but I really enjoyed every minute of it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
