A small, affluent suburb is abuzz with reports that a tell-all book has been written by a servant in the community. Sophia (Spring Byington) doesn't think it's any of her staff, but the author is, in fact, her kind maid, Martha (Marsha Hunt). Sophia also doesn't know that Martha was secretly married to her son, Jeff (Richard Carlson), who has been on a research trip and now returns wanting a divorce so that he can marry Sylvia (Frances Drake). However, Martha still has feelings for him.
