Donald Clarke Irish Times Fans of the genre will rejoice in the rare sight of a new kind of threat. They will celebrate further at the director's success in satisfactorily exploiting a challenging premise. Rated: 4/5 Apr 1, 2017 Full Review Ed Potton Times (UK) This chilling chamber piece from the Norwegian director Andr Ovredal is an exercise in restrained horror. Rated: 4/5 Mar 31, 2017 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian The second half is merely morbid runaround, punctuating its soundtrack crashes with self-justifying footnotes on historical misogyny. Rated: 2/5 Mar 30, 2017 Full Review Erick Estrada Cinegarage In this horror story much closer in spirit to Stephen King's novels than to cheap horror films, Ørvedal makes us feel and live with his revenge nightmare that which others (particularly women) have lived and felt. [Full review in Spanish] Apr 26, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The movies early, slow-burning potential is squandered by its adherence to popular genre tropes, all of which seem underwhelming after the first two-thirds. Rated: 2/4 Apr 5, 2022 Full Review Jason Adams My New Plaid Pants It redefines gooseflesh. Hell your scalp will crawl right off of you and into the seat beside you and then demand some of your popcorn, if you let it. Jul 2, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Chris G A cleverly written and well acted horror piece that stands out with its originality and leading pair, alongside some deft direction as it works to create a modern classic. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Chris H The first 50 minutes of this are very disturbing and absolutely gripping - I literally couldn't turn away. Once the explanations start to kick in, the film becomes far less suspenseful and even a little silly, but hang in there, it's still good. Brian Cox is great, of course. Be warned, the autopsy is very gruesome and, as Emile Hirsch's character says, there are things you can't unsee. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/24 Full Review Trisha F The Autopsy of Jane Doe had the perfect setup for me—watching it as a mortuary transporter, just a hallway away from our own morgue. The eerie vibes were real! But for a movie with “autopsy” in the title, it quickly shifted from a detailed examination to a series of jump scares. While the creepy atmosphere and mystery had me intrigued, I was hoping for more from the actual autopsy process and less from the spooky tricks. A solid 3.5/5 stars, but it didn’t quite dissect the story I was hoping for. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 10/01/24 Full Review TROY S The Autopsy of Jane Doe is basically a great haunted house movie—the house just happens to be the morgue. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/30/24 Full Review Daniel C. M One of the nicest pieces of modern horror, with a nice setting, atmosphere, thrills and scares. Though indeed the ending and characters are dumb and frustrating. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Peter H Great writing, such an original premise, very spooky. A great entertaining movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews
