The denizens of a Western town have had it with their bossy and controlling sheriff, Bear Bullock (Guy Madison), but every time they try to hire a replacement, Bullock's men take out the new applicant. When oddball scientist Merriweather Newberry (Tom Bosley) arrives in the town one day, bringing with him a cowboy robot, Merriweather thinks his mechanical outlaw, The Bang Bang Kid, can stand up to Bear. The question is whether Merriweather can get his machine to function correctly.
