Doctor K Hitchcock-level suspense. Beautifully shot in rural Maine… this is the stuff of New England nightmares. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/20/22 Full Review Elyse S First, I loved how nuanced the performances were in this film. That feels rare in a movie about the supernatural. But, my biggest takeaway was its exploration of female imagination (and generational trauma). That this idea is expressed through the story of a bold pre-teen is especially delicious! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/21/22 Full Review Sherwood K So fresh indeed; recognizable human beings! Beautifully played. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/17/22 Full Review Audience Member A good urban legend/ghost story with fine performances and assured direction. i enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review jane a Plenty of spooky fun for me in this thriller, but "Bride in the Box" is also an artful gem of a family drama. I love the writer/director's clear joy in endearing moments of family life, even as he doesn't shy away from showing realistic conflict. The characters are haunted as much by unresolved family dynamics as they are by a restless spirit with unfinished business. It takes great acting to pull off this effect. "Heather" and "Don" seem to get this in their bones. Excellent performances throughout. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member From the opening shot, this film's gorgeous cinematography featuring the Maine coast had me hooked. More suspense than horror, this is a ghost story that reminds us that in real life the scary stuff is trying to navigate the vicissitudes of marriage and parenting a teen. Terrific acting and a great Downeast yarn make this a film a shoestring budget gem that's well worth watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
