Audience Member A good urban legend/ghost story with fine performances and assured direction. i enjoyed it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review jane a Plenty of spooky fun for me in this thriller, but "Bride in the Box" is also an artful gem of a family drama. I love the writer/director's clear joy in endearing moments of family life, even as he doesn't shy away from showing realistic conflict. The characters are haunted as much by unresolved family dynamics as they are by a restless spirit with unfinished business. It takes great acting to pull off this effect. "Heather" and "Don" seem to get this in their bones. Excellent performances throughout. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member From the opening shot, this film's gorgeous cinematography featuring the Maine coast had me hooked. More suspense than horror, this is a ghost story that reminds us that in real life the scary stuff is trying to navigate the vicissitudes of marriage and parenting a teen. Terrific acting and a great Downeast yarn make this a film a shoestring budget gem that's well worth watching. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member If, like me, you prefer a hair-raising relationship-centered ghost story, rather than a typical blood and guts horror flick, this movie is for you. Terrific writing, beautifully shot, and with stellar performances throughout, the film engaged me at every level. I also enjoyed getting to know rural Maine and its intriguing personalities. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Gripping story and a stellar cast. Carolyn Bost, Acadia Bost, Victor Verhaeghe create a believable and disturbing portrait of a family in crisis. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This is that rare thriller that patiently and knowingly creates a growing and unbearable sense of dread; blends layered, realistic characters with genuine scares; and leaves you feeling you've seen something fresh and intelligent.
