Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter Offers an alternately moving and amusing exercise in infectious nostalgia that should prove appealing even to viewers who weren't in the 1949 graduating class of DeWitt Clinton High School. Oct 30, 2019 Full Review Robert Abele Los Angeles Times As metaphors for America go, it might just put a hopeful smile on your face after another stomach-churning political news day. Oct 24, 2019 Full Review Beandrea July Hyperallergic This isn't exactly the Bronx tale you might hear from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Showtime's Desus and Mero, but it is an earnest multigenerational perspective on New York's most diverse and distinctive borough. Feb 28, 2020 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews A pleasing nostalgia laden documentary about a once acclaimed high school in the Bronx. Rated: B Nov 8, 2019 Full Review Joel Keller Decider There are few movies that will talk about The Bronx with more joy than The Bronx, USA. Nov 1, 2019 Full Review Anne Brodie What She Said Surprisingly funny and engaging. Oct 25, 2019 Full Review Read all reviews

susan j I could not have imagined how it would have been possible to make a documentary about the Bronx that was not as vibrant, alive, and diverse as the Bronx is and always has been. However, it was a torturous embarrassment. Clearly a labor of love paid for by the producer, or something like that---this was an egotistical self-aggrandizing severely limited, hidebound, backward tonedeaf portrait of the Bronx. Like someone's wealthy and unbelievably parochial grandpa came up with the premise and rolled out the story according to their own tiny little self-delighted point of view. It's punctuated by excruciating moments like extraordinarily white old Baby Boomers like Robert Klein sitting on a park bench and rapping. Everyone in this film is so immensely pleased with themselves, first, and the Bronx--as a narcissistic projection of themselves--second. Couldn't make it through more than 1/2. AnaAppalling and a monstrous waste of time squandered on a fabulous subject. A few anecdotes and some of the archival footage compelling, hence 2 stars.
