Namrata Joshi The Hindu A repository of history, memories and anecdotes, he is also the symbol of the end of an era, and of continuity and survival. He is never cynical, nor resigned, but warm, positive, hopeful. Just like the film. Jul 24, 2018 Full Review Larushka Ivan-Zadeh Times (UK) Shot over five years, their observational, gently woven elegy to the last gasp of celluloid feels somewhat overstretched at feature length, yet it contains some of the most magical images you'll see this year. Rated: 4/5 Jan 26, 2018 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian It's a charming movie, although I wondered if it wasn't a bit fetishistic about the kit, and incurious about the films and audiences. Rated: 3/5 Jan 26, 2018 Full Review Michael McNeely That Shelf I'd like to give a special note to the profound Prakash who warrants a pause after each philosophical statement that he utters, just so you can really meditate on what the heck he just said. Feb 13, 2019 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film There's a lot of information in this film but its magic lies in what it offers to the eyes. Rated: 4/5 Jan 25, 2018 Full Review MaryAnn Johanson Flick Filosopher A marvelous film, so full of the wonder of movies, so melancholy about the changing cinema landscape, so hopeful that though the technology is changing, the love will endure. Audience Member Despite its hesitant pace and lack of aim, "The Cinema Travellers" is a candid look into the life of the struggles associated with your work becoming obsolete, and how technology may indeed be engulfing jobs faster than we realize. Yet, amongst this revelation comes the hope of adaptation, a theme neatly presented in this documentary. Where most films of this nature tend to overreach in its attempt to tell its story, "The Cinema Travellers" learns that the subtle, truthful exposition of this world tells its story far greater than the folks behind the camera.
