Ann Ross Maclean's Magazine There are only a limited number of things that can happen in a circus picture... Audience Member Joe E. Brown has dual roles in this circus comedy as a young man who wants to join the circus and also as his former circus performer father who does not want him to join. Brown does make his way to the circus and comedy ensues, though not that funny of comedy to my taste. I'm really not all that familiar with Brown's work except for his small role in "Some Like it Hot" and at that point he was long past his heyday as a leading comic performer. I'm not sure if this is representative of his work, but I wasn't all that impressed with the comedy, although I was impressed with Brown performing a lot of his own circus stunts. William Demarest all appears in the film. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
