Critics Consensus

The Collection offers more grisly thrills and twisted humor than its predecessor; in other words, fun for genre fans, but unpleasant for anyone else.

Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle An exercise in pure sadism, The Collection moves at a clip that leaps over plot holes in its race to elicit fright. SkyRo P The Collection is a horror film listed under two different titles, so I finally decided to check it off my watchlist. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge letdown. The movie clearly operates on a low budget, and while that’s not always a dealbreaker, it’s painfully obvious here. Some of the death scenes and setups felt like they were trying to channel Saw—and in a few moments, they came close—but overall, the film never hit the mark. What really dragged it down was the cinematography and lighting, which were just awful. The entire movie looked and felt cheap, making it hard to fully engage with the story. The editing was just as rough—choppy, awkward, and totally lacking in tension or rhythm. The acting didn’t help either. The cast did what they could with what they were given, but the script was weak across the board. Because of that, the director seemed to be stretching to make something meaningful happen, but it just never came together in any cohesive or compelling way. In the end, The Collector was a flat, uninspired mess. It wasn’t scary, it wasn’t thrilling, and it was honestly tough to sit through—in a bad way, not a so-bad-it’s-good kind of way. It’s one of those movies I’ll never revisit and wouldn’t recommend. Skip it. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 06/08/25 Full Review Jailyne M i highly recommend this movie! not boring to me jajajaja i watch it several times every weekend loll both collectors are amazing tbh!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review babarizam D Its a terrible movie given the fact that its a sequel to The Collector. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/03/25 Full Review Jason W Where the Collector was Home Alone meets Saw, the Collection is Resident Evil meets Saw. Still some good kills but same old bad CGI. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review LipxGlossz G This movie has been my favorite since I was smaller, I think this puts me in a position where most "horror" movies aren't even scary anymore, if I'm being true. they often disappoint me. This movie is so well made and they weren't afraid to show us everything they've got! they gave us death party, artificial zombies, demon dogs, traitors, fire, and even more. although, I would say that this movie is NOT for the weak minded, but I would love a remake of this movie or more types like this. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/05/24 Full Review Toomuch P Pretty good. The brash, young American character, Billy, is obnoxious. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 06/30/24 Full Review Read all reviews
