Marc Savlov Austin Chronicle Certainly lead adult actor Arnezeder has panache to spare, as does Bousinna, but the muddled storyline defeats them time and time again, no matter how perfectly angry/hopeful their lines are. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 1, 2021 Full Review Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A film that gets a whole lot out of very little. Aug 28, 2021 Full Review Monica Castillo RogerEbert.com Tim Fehlbaum's The Colony has many ideas about the future, and while not all of them quite stick together, there's a few interesting aesthetic and narrative choices to make it something of a curiosity. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 27, 2021 Full Review Aaron Phillips But Why Tho? A Geek Community The Colony promised to be a fascinating concept, but the plot left a lot to be desired... Rated: 6.5/10 Jan 5, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies The stark dismal environments brings thoughts of “Waterworld” and “Mad Max” but without the big studio shine. Instead Fehlbaum’s world is ugly, gritty and palpable. Rated: 3.5/5 Aug 17, 2022 Full Review Jennifer Green Common Sense Media This film succeeds in crafting both a bleak, watery, post-apocalyptic Earth and a warm, involving human story about relationships. Audience Member I don't think this movie deserves the low rating that the audience gave. It's a futuristic movie that was mediocre but had its moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/21/24 Full Review Sérgio C I don't get the hate for the film. Yes, it's slow, but it's a good film about existentialism and how humans can be selfish. A non Hollywood film. Maybe that's why people don't like it. I agree that the ending is a disappointment. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/18/24 Full Review M R Massive problems with the plot. I feel like the director failed. It could have worked. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/16/24 Full Review Jerod S Earth is a wet sandy wastelend when Blake lands on the planet. The people she meets are wild and weird and it takes her forever to figure out whats going on. As things are revealed, her father comes back into the picture and has made a severe mess of things. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/31/24 Full Review LL S Well-made allegory of colonialism and colonization in a bleak post-apocalyptic setting that still manages to shimmer with hope. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Daniel T Interesting but superficial. Was it worth the time? I'm not sure it was. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
