Pat Brown Slant Magazine The film falls back on the myth of modernity being born in the laps of practical, native-born American ingenuity. Rated: 1.5/4 Sep 29, 2019 Full Review Clarisse Loughrey Independent (UK) The Current War seems to have suffered from its tumultuous production history. Or, just maybe, it was always destined to be this ungainly. Rated: 2/5 Aug 4, 2019 Full Review Wendy Ide Observer (UK) Top-hatted, frock-coated, mutton-chopped chaps burbling on about the relative advantages of the alternating current versus direct current system does not, in fact, make for electrifying drama. Rated: 2/5 Jul 27, 2019 Full Review Calum Cooper Source (Scotland) It’s a decent piece of filmmaking in terms of cinematography and the odd bit of dialogue, but in the end, there’s little to separate it from other movies in which Cumberbatch plays a genius. Rated: 2/5 Jul 14, 2024 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times If we wish to know where we’re going, we need to know where we’ve been. The Current War will remind us of our mostly great past and the power of original thought, ingenuity, drive, sweat equity, and persuasion. Rated: 4/5 Mar 29, 2023 Full Review Laura Potier Outtake Mag An illuminating tale in need of more direct (narrative) current. Rated: 3/5 Aug 16, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Aubrey H While the writers and directors bent the truth, giving more credit to Westinghouse rather than Nikola Tesla, they did so in the hopes of making a more entertaining film (which I understand). Nicholas Hoult did a fantastic job bringing Nikola Tesla to life, and I adore this movie despite the historical inaccuracies (what historical drama doesn't have them?). Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/25 Full Review Cheri B In spite of the fact that it has a wonderful cast it is very disjointed and disappointing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Valka R A brilliant historical movie, retelling the story of four titans (Tesla, Edison, Westinghouse, J.P. Morgan) of science and industry that brought about an American scientific and industrial revolution. Superbly acted and written. A must-see movie for anyone interested in science and American history. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Prabudhjeet A The direction and cinematography of this movie is beautifully crafted. The music (recomposed Spring by Max Vivaldi) and editing just compliments with the cherry on top. Acting restaged the whole Tesla/Edison drama. Its a great film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/14/24 Full Review Michelle N I thought the movie was very well made. Kept my attention the entire time. Very good acting as well. Definitely worth the time invested.
