Synopsis
In the years leading up to World War II, European artists and intellectuals began seeking asylum from the culturally stifling effects of totalitarianism and fascism. Through interviews, archival footage and reenactments, director Richard Kaplan explores the creative and scientific contributions of some of America's most prominent European exiles, including Expressionist director Fritz Lang, stage composer Kurt Weill and Manhattan Project physicist Edward Teller.
