Phil Hall Film Threat The problem (or joy, depending on your taste) is that nothing in the film is intentionally funny. Rated: 1.5/5 Apr 10, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member A musical-comedy that was supposed to be a parody of the beach party movie trend that took over at one point in the 1960's is called The Fat Spy. Despite this being a Z movie, I still enjoyed Jayne Mansfield's performance as well as the costume designs (at times) and the cheesy sense of humor. However, I have to remember that this is still a Z movie. The film had so much unbelievable lazy writing by Matthew Andrews, horrendous and forgettable musical numbers, and bad direction by Joseph Cates. The Fat Spy is just pretty horrendous and if it weren't for Jayne Mansfield, this could of been the worst movie ever made. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Blobbo just see if high rating change score. (Not do tho.) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This is why I love "Z" , "B" & parody movies. You sit back and see the humor in them. If you take it seriously, you'll never laugh. Watch high budget movies and you can pick and criticize them as easy too. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Better than "Citizen Kane." And it has boats. And Doing the Turtle. And the worst lip-syncing outside a Super Bowl halftime. Antepostmodern brilliance. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member with a title like that and Phyllis Diller how can you loose? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member I've watched it and the film is pretty good but I feel sorry for Jayne Mansfield as she plays a bimbo character. The older characters are all basically "bumpkins" or evil and the dancing scenes are rather voyeuristic if not sexist. A decent film at best and one dvd I had no regrets about promptly selling to a "buy-sell" store. It's considered a campy comedy and that is the best description of it whether you consider it funny or not. Belongs close to the "Porky's" section of the store...
