Sean L. McCarthy Decider An induction for comedy greatness that also slightly indicts the platform hosting it? As Davidson even cracked, can you believe this special is airing on the same platform that’s popular for Is It Cake? May 25, 2022 Full Review Read all reviews

Zach V I love that they do this and I don't want them to stop, but there are some changes that should be made to the ceremony. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/07/22 Full Review georgan g This was funny, but didn't blow me away. Was nice to see comedians who are no longer living. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review dave d If you're a fan of any of the four you'll enjoy that segment. It's hard to put the genius of any of these four brilliant comics into 15 minutes, but it's abut as good as they can do all things considered. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is the premiere ceremony of the induction ceremony for the new Comedy Hall of Fame. The first class includes George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Richard Pryor, and Robin Williams. This Netflix special involves comedians like Jon Stewart, Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Dave Chapelle, and John Mulaney paying tribute to these great artists. There are some interesting perspectives but the historical footage and clips are the best part. Good choice in these four but it is almost a no brainer. The hosting seems a little constrained but heartfelt. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member They could have done better with the Robin Williams tribute... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review susan j The comics featured (except Joan Rivers) are indeed among the greatest of all time. The format, however, is cheesy, and the clips selected to honor the comedians are astonishingly poor. None of what they selected shows the core of the Robin Williams, George Carlin, or Richard Pryor. Whoever selected the clips seems to have been trying to select materials that young audiences would relate to (so, basically, gender roles, institutional racism, systemic sexism, anti-church stuff). Very easy targets and totally faux-courageous -- pandering, really, to what is not actually edgy now, but totally accepted. It fell flat. Tremendously disappointing. I could not have imagined not laughing once at George Carlin, Robin Williams, or Richard Pryor -- but I grinned at the bits I've seen 20,000 times, but it was tedious. Only good part was Dave Chappelle introducing the segment on Richard Pryor. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews
