The Holiday is admittedly super corny and typical for a romantic comedy, hitting every expected beat with sugary sweetness. While the plot follows a very predictable formula, it remains a nice enough time for fans of the genre who are looking for a cozy, feel-good escape. The film’s real secret weapon is its unexpected casting; I’m always down for a movie that makes Jack Black a love interest, as his grounded charm adds a refreshing layer of warmth to the otherwise glossy production.
