Jeff M So many of the documentaries I've watched lately, while extremely well made and very engrossing, tend to focus on sensationalism - the more outrageous the better. And while the events portrayed here are certainly quite incredible, with a couple surprises thrown in here and there, the filmmaking is more subtle and definitely character driven. This case was turned into a 1997 TV movie called BAD TO THE BONE. I haven't seen this movie, but a decision was made to change the nationality of those involved from Korean to Caucasian. Interestingly enough, one of the things I appreciated about this documentary so much was a look into the Korean culture and how that may have affected the attitudes and ultimate actions of Andrew and Catherine Suh. It's a sobering and chilling look at a family completely torn apart by tragedy, betrayal and perhaps even loyalty. The storytelling suffers a bit due to the choice of Catherine Shu not to be involved, but the filmmakers have still managed to make a memorable film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/11/24 Full Review Audience Member The only Korean male son (the perpetrator) in this documentary just overshadowed everything. He could do no wrong in the eyes of his father. Yet I felt absolutely no emotion or care for him as a person or for what he has done. Was I suppose to feel sorry for this killer? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This documentary wasn't very captivating. It lacked any emotion. You really don't feel bad for anyone and the truth never fully comes out. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Very good documentary, well researched and executed Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Perspective on the myriad of outside elements that contribute to the horrors of murder, and the otherwise normal people entangled within..
