dave j Tuesday, February 11, 2014 (2013) The Jonas Project SOCIAL COMMENTARY DRAMA (Plot spoilers) Pretentious movie similar to what one can get from a movie-of-the-week centering on "The Jonas Project' which is the top secret file name given to a 'cure' of all cancers. The pharmaceutical companies would go out of business so they would attempt to eliminate anyone or anything possessing that kind of information. It involves an incident that occurred at the beginning involving a tape recorder. The movie then switches back to some Texas town in the United States, and a well renowned scientist by the name of Calvin Kabral (John Savage) gets an honory plaque of retirement for all the work he does. And at the same time his long time faithful African American housekeeper has suddenly has to experience cancer herself with her daughter having to deal with the same kind of issues regarding finding a cure. The movie is so 'blatant' the idea could've came from an assumed article since it focuses a great portion of this movie on knowing it's characters and not so much on the bureaucracy which would've been a 25 minute stint. The real star is Joella Kabral (Holly Lynch) who's the daughter of Calvin since she eventually exposes the corruption along with another friend Trey (Dean Cain). The movie means well but it shouldn't have to waste viewers viewing time to make it's point when it's long been figured out way before the movie is even over. 1 star out of 4 Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
