Ed Potton The Times (UK) Krauss handles the action and intrigue with cool precision, though, and Skarsgard, with nailbrush moustache, is often chilling. Rated: 3/5 Aug 17, 2020 Full Review Roxana Hadadi AV Club The Kill Team's depiction of toxic masculinity and bloodthirstiness within the U.S. Army is blunted by an overly passive lead performance and a lack of specificity in its storytelling. Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Matt Zoller Seitz RogerEbert.com The Kill Team is lean, sincere, impassioned filmmaking, yet it fails to leave as much of an impression as it clearly wants to. Rated: 2/4 Oct 31, 2019 Full Review Daniel Howat Next Best Picture Though there is little new added to the extensive conversation surrounding the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, The Kill Team highlights the dangerous, and perhaps all too easy, radicalization that can happen in this culture. Rated: 7/10 May 19, 2022 Full Review Joanne Laurier World Socialist Web Site By contrast, the new fiction film tends to suggest that the "Kill Team" was an aberrational exception in America's otherwise praiseworthy fighting force... Aug 5, 2020 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix [Writer/director Dan] Krauss builds a level of suspense and emotional tension that ... serve as a painful reminder that serial killing in the context of war is an issue that will never be fully erased. Eve_ l A rewiev that has Spoilers!!! Have lots to say about this movie, yet would want to set an emphasis on Andrew Briggman's character. A volunteer, who has Hope, wants to adapt and save the World. Andrew- a conscience of the Platoon -as once depicted by another person. Then, his mind sifts: he starts dreaming about a Promotion (maybe 'cos Army life isn't easy) - things twist bad. Especially when Boys find it out. Everything becomes complicated when an Afghan boy dies - his death could touch Andrew's mind in a distinct way - to resonate with him on another level? On one hand, Briggman still wants to have that new working assignment and represses his morality in front of a Sergeant (being obedient, and having that Nice Guy attitude). On the other hand, he seeks justice - because of this mind state - he became almost a Victim at the platoon. Obeying and rebelling - at the same time. That is what causes the conflict. Briggman (the name of the character is not accidental) becomes He vs the others. Maybe an older version of him vs the new one? His mind shifts towards good (???) Isn't it in all the scenes that boys, as a bunch, are keeping distance from Briggman? They vs him (yet still having hope for each other: chatting and still being friendly) Pros of the movie: 1. Scenerie, which reflects Human emotions. 2. Sound effects. 3. Well-written and portrayed characters. 4. The moody ambience of the Film: everything feels and seems like "Twin Peaks". Even main characters seem and look alike. Definetly - recommend as Sunday movie - which could set a pace for entire new week. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/22/25 Full Review Nikolai R Powerful film that depicts the degradation of human moral compass under peer pressure - and how it's never late to join the evil - a theme explored in the Banality of Evil by Hannah Arendt, it shows how the system incentivising evil will make even the kindest of us succumb to the peer pressure to fit in/avoid being ostracized. Authentic performances Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/23 Full Review Bryan B Probably a realistic movie about Afghanistan. Same as Vietnam more of these stories will come to light.
