brendan n Indie films of this nature can be a hit or a miss, but The Kitchen is an underrated gem in my opinion. The cast is vast and varied, you at least have distinctions and can easily relate to them. The biggest issue the film has is the ending and some of the uneasy beats along the way, not everything is smooth sailing for the cast. I wish more films had this fun nature, this film was over and I felt it captured the tone and essence for the duration. House party films are a dime a dozen and this is much different in nature. Does the kitchen setting work? Yes and no. You rob yourself of the movement that a house setting would have provided, being in the crowd for the battle of the bands would have been a riot. Indie films have the risk of disappearing without a trace and sadly the kitchen is one of those films which is unfortunate. This was a fun film and had a great pace, I just wish more films would take a gamble and not follow a set formula. Watch if you have the chance. 01/07/2018.
