Tate Ellington
Actor Tate Ellington was a supporting and guest player in numerous features and television series, including "Remember Me" (2010) and "Straight Outta Compton" (2015), before signing on as a series regular with the 2015 drama "Quantico" (ABC). Born James Tate Ellington in 1979 in Madison, Mississippi, he attended the Madison-Ridgeland in Madison before enrolling as a double major in art and theater at the University of Mississippi. After earning his bachelor's degree in theater performance, Ellington launched his acting career in films and on television, starting with independent features like "The Elephant King" (2005) and "Red" (2008) and eventually working his way up to minor and supporting roles in studio projects like Ricky Gervais' "The Invention of Lying" (2009) and "Remember Me" (2010), which cast him as Robert Pattinson's best friend. Ellington also made his Broadway debut during this period, starring opposite Matthew Broderick and Steven Weber in a 2009 revival of Christopher Hampton's "The Philanthropist." In 2012, Ellington moved up to leading man for the Fox Digital Entertainment web series "Wolfpack of Reseda" (2012), a comedy about a young man who believes that he's been bitten by a werewolf. Ellington continued to alternate between independent and studio releases, including a turn as Priority Records chief Bryan Turner "Straight Outta Compton" (2015), and steady work as a guest performer on television series, most notably as Mindy's supervisor on two episodes of "The Mindy Project" (Fox/Hulu, 2012- ). In 2015, Ellington became a series regular on the action-drama "Quantico," playing a FBI trainee with a talent for foreign languages.
