Andy P The plot of this movie is quite good, but there are many flaws, many rebuttals, for example: several of the main characters smoke, in recent years, the number of smoking in Hong Kong is deteriorating, smoking culture no longer belongs to Hong Kong Mainstream culture. On top of this, the deceased has been dead for six months, how can the joints be so soft? Also the funeral industry is hereditary, it will not be so easy for outsiders to enter the industry. Overall, this movie is quite good and I will give 4.5/5 points. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/21/24 Full Review Will C Poigniant, multifaceted and powerful. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Pat L A powerful movie. Emotionally resonant. Both the Chinese and English titles are excellent, though it requires some cultural background to understand the ritual meaning of the Chinese title. It sets in the post-COVID era but the sorrows and burdens of life depicted in the story were much deep-rooted. The story builds around the business of a funeral parlour. A bitter-comedy genre and the two leading characters are well-known comedians in Hong Kong. One of the best Hong Kong movies this year. Highly recommended. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Rebecca M The wedding planning business takes a hit during the pandemic, pushing one of the main characters to switch careers from wedding planner to funeral organiser. In this new role, he meets his business partner, a master of “the last dance,” a traditional Taoist ceremony performed at funerals in Hong Kong. Tensions arise between them as they work together. As the main character learns the funeral business, he begins to see life and death in a new light. The film encourages reflection on family relationships—between father and son, father and daughter, and siblings. It reminds us that funerals are not only for the deceased but also for the living. The movie is well-structured, allowing each character the space to express themselves and contribute meaningfully to the storyline. Each character faces their own struggles and dilemmas, making it easy to see parts of ourselves or people we know reflected in them. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Mei Sha C "The Last Dance” is a shocking movie, both in terms of storyline and visual effects, reaching an extremely high level. With its unique narrative style and profound themes, the film deeply explores the struggle between human nature, redemption and despair. The performances of the actors are extremely good, especially the protagonists, who successfully interpret the inner conflicts and growth of the characters. The film's cinematography and sound design also deserve praise, creating a tense and engaging atmosphere that immerses the audience in the action. Every scene is filled with details that make people reflect on the choices and consequences in life. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Roger C The film explores themes of humanity, familial bonds, and traditional beliefs with remarkable depth. Its gripping narrative ensures that every viewer finds a point of resonance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
