Audience Member A poetic look at an accident victim turned paraplegic; leaves NYC, and settles upstate NY near Saratoga Battlefield National Historic Park on the VT border. Dan leaves NYC and his "worldly" friends and ex fiancé to live in his family's weekend home 3 hours away from the bustle. He starts dating a very pretty local girl named Shannon, whom really cares for him but his old friends see as a party grubbing country bumpkin: a waitress & bartender not an investment banker but aghast: a townie. Anyway with the 2 sets the crap will hit the fan as the hubris NYC folks think they know what's best for Dan and he should move in with his friend whose marriage is on the rocks so he could be near his ex fiancé whom Dan knows that marriage would have failed before the accident as well as now . THE end he realizes his new friends do care and aren't superficial Volvo driving yuppies filled with their own superiority. Very end his neighbor is seen bringing crops over and a smile shines on Dan's face as he opens the door for him. (I am assuming the yuppies went to Cornell, Union or Skidmore. SHANNON "you guys are intense". "We're from New York". Shannon "this is New York too". "Pfffhhh sure". Synopsis of Dan's NYC smug, ostentatious crew in that exchange. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Acting, writing and cinematography in this film are incredible. A moving portrayal of recovery and what it means to be loyal. Heather Lind nails the Upstate New York 'tude and Michael Izquierdo delivers a powerful performance as Dan, the young, wheelchair-bound "normal guy," trying to find his way in a new life. Genuine character moments also make this movie funny at just the right times. Definitely urge everyone to check it out! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member But the film is mainly a claustrophobic slog through familiar themes that fails to generate much impact. By the time the backstory of Dan's anguished state is revealed viewers will have long since ceased to care. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter This static, talky effort ultimately doesn't justify its feature-length running time despite some strong performances and the occasional moving moment. Jun 24, 2014 Full Review Dennis Harvey Variety There's enough material here for a half-hour short or a one-act play, but the character and plot reveals simply aren't complicated or surprising enough to justify feature length. Jun 24, 2014 Full Review Anita Gates New York Times The characters do not escape stereotyping, but the film deserves credit for looking at Shannon's view of the relationship as well as that of the smug urban professionals. Rated: 3/5 Oct 3, 2013 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A somewhat tedious slow-burn drama with waning tension, but saved by very raw, natural performances. It's quite refreshing to watch a cabin-in-the-woods story with no one getting killed. Rated: 6.00001/10 Oct 11, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
