      The Little Death

      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Little Death may appeal to fans of dark, risqué comedy, but it's ultimately too rough and uneven to hang together as a wholly satisfying viewing experience.

Promo Videos B EXCELLENT. VERY SHARP AND EXTREMELY WELL DONE. I WISH WE HAD MORE MOVIES FROM THIS GROUP OF ACTORS. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/20/24 Full Review Kelley E I like spicy weird but this was a waste of an evening. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Clem - Kaine C Before I watched The Little Death I had no idea what it was. I just saw Josh sucking toes and went in blind haha. I read some reviews and most were positive but some were negative. They were upset because they say there's too much sex and not enough character development or really any plot. They also don't think the ending was good because it was sad. I disagree. The plot revolves all around the idea of sex in relationships. It opens up vulnerable aspects of what people truly want. It shows that one thing might be right for one person but not another and that's totally fine. It takes communication. I loved the ending personally. It all came together so perfectly. The draw back to Phil crashing his car earlier just to get to the end and see he hit Steve while Monica is unaware was just poetry. Everything wrapped up nicely with the characters. People can go down different routes and still end up at the same place along with others. Loved this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review hazy w Pure joy. Daaaarrrrkly funny but sweet. A rare film about couples that's actually honest (even if the couples themselves aren't.) Wanted to start it over again as soon as it finished. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review donald g 5 couples struggle when sexual fetishes come to dominate their relationships. A terrifically funny, sad, silly, and amusing film for everyone to enjoy! Jake Coyle Associated Press Frequently funny and sometimes perhaps offensive in the darkness of its humor. Jul 9, 2015 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The Little Death is [Lawson's] feature film debut, and it's beautifully scripted, each of its five story lines working out the comic implications of a perverse urge. Rated: 3/4 Jul 2, 2015 Full Review Scott Tobias The Dissolve it goes down as easy as Junior Soprano on Bobbi Sanfillipo, which is both a blessing and a curse for Lawson's Hollywood-slick romantic comedy. Rated: 2.5/5 Jul 1, 2015 Full Review Jordan Brooks Vague Visages Billed as a comedy about sex, Josh Lawson’s The Little Death only manages to explore a small margin of the current sexual landscape. Aug 2, 2023 Full Review Stephen Saito Moveable Fest What will likely make "The Little Death" more resonant is how organically funny it is, smuggling in bits of truth about the ways we hide our true selves from one another amidst a sea of well-conceived and executed comic set-ups. Nov 13, 2018 Full Review Funmi Sunmonu Add This To Your List So entertaining, so funny, so hilarious. Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews
