Chase Hutchinson The Inlander (Spokane, WA) The longer that you sit with The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, which plays most like a shortened version of the astounding recent film A Hidden Life, the more it is that the painful power it has grabs hold of you. Feb 19, 2025 Full Review Alan Ng Film Threat Slijepcevic masterfully crafts a tale that is both haunting and necessary, reminding us that silence, too, is a choice with consequences. Jonathan K I think this short film assumes too much. I had no background of the massacre tied to this one and maybe that's on me. But without it, it's hard for this to feel like this little short story matters. Don't get me wrong, I get that it does, and after reading about it I can see why it's important, but I think they could have provided some context on screen. Even so, I'm left wondering if, as a film on its own merits, it's all that strong anyway. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/02/25 Full Review Dallas H Nope, it did not mean anything special to me. The story is too fragmented and short. When the end credits began, I thought, "Was that all?" Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/01/25 Full Review matthias s **Review: The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent (★★★☆☆)** This film tells an undeniably important story with real tension, and it’s crafted with skill—but it feels like it needed more room to breathe. As a short film, it rushes through moments that could have carried more weight. The protagonist’s struggle is compelling, but for someone who "could not remain silent," he doesn’t push back as much as you’d expect. The result is solid but not as powerful as it could have been. Well-made, gripping at times, but ultimately, it leaves you wishing it had the time to really deliver its punch. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/25 Full Review Yash B "The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent" is simple in terms of the premise, but expertly tense and uneasy in its execution. The movie had me on the edge of my seat for just about 10 whole minutes and left me thinking deeply about the complexity and difficulty of doing something that is morally right in the face of danger. I do feel someone like myself who didn't really know the historical context of this story can fully appreciate the short film, but I still think it is comparable to many situations in the modern day. Overall, this is a well-made short film and one of the best to come out of the Oscar nominees this year, and it leaves a profound impact in a matter of minutes. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/25 Full Review Lili R The topic of the film is extremely important and more relevant than ever, resonating with the current social and political climate. It's a powerful reminder of the real-world issues we face today, making it not just a piece of entertainment, but also a critical conversation starter. The cinematography is stunning, and the cast delivers exceptional performances. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/24/25 Full Review Read all reviews
