      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot just about lives up to the wild promise of its title, due in no small part to Sam Elliott's world-weary work in the title role.

RCaesar P I loved 90% of the movie, specifically the parts when he was younger. The odd 10% about the Bigfoot was a little weird and not especially good. Sam Elliot held it together and made it mostly enjoyable. Some transitions in the movie took too long and others went by far too quickly. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/08/24 Full Review Jordan S Not enough Bigfoot or Hitler too sappy Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/02/24 Full Review Nate Q First of all WOW. Sam Elliot has truly outdone himself. By the end of the movie I truly believed that Sam could have actually killed Hitler, then Sasquatch as portrayed by his character. Great action, Great kung fu, good love story. 10/10. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Joshua Y The script clearly needed another pass on it by someone who wasn't connected to the project before making this movie. The love story centres around two actors who are clearly really good, but their characters are 100% cliché and say the most generic dialogue. So there's no charisma at all and I don't care about the love story, which, by the way, was a lot longer than the actual hunting for big foot, which probably accounts for maybe 10% of the movie? I've been a writer for a long time and have won over 31 awards. I could clean this up soooo quickly. And don't worry about exposition. You'll get tons all the way to act 3. The killing of bigfoot was basically an afterthought in this movie and was not at all cinematic. It basically had no build, it just went right into bad choreography and fights scenes we've seen a million times. I'm very skeptical about the critics giving it such a high score. I'd like the legitimacy looked over 'cause I'm positive some were just paid to give this a 5/5. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Mark B My goodness this is bad. Boring story makes no sense, seems they spent the money on beautiful camera work and star power shooting scenes, then tried to salvage when they ran out of money editing together this piece of garbage. Tonal issues, one scene going for some sort of comedy to just depressing slow nothing. Maybe you can watch to try to find deep meaning of choices and a wasted life of regrets but that is stretch as you would have to sit through this trash. I really hated this movie. Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) It is far more gripping as an understated character study than it is as a wild B-movie. Sep 18, 2019 Full Review Raphael Abraham Financial Times It's a mix that shouldn't work, but thanks to Elliott's rugged sincerity it somehow does. Rated: 4/5 May 2, 2019 Full Review Ian Freer Empire Magazine The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot is a strange but enjoyable mishmash of genres and ideas held together by the gravitas and class of Sam Elliott. Rated: 3/5 Apr 15, 2019 Full Review Robert Roten Laramie Movie Scope Veteran actor Sam Elliot gives a strong performance as Calvin Barr, a man haunted by his past as an assassin. The end of the film is puzzling, but we do get a good sense of who Calvin is. He reminds me of one that Elliot played in the "The Hero" (2017). Rated: B Jan 29, 2023 Full Review Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies “The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot” screams low-budget pulp. Who knew it was actually a meditative character study full of deep feeling and pathos. Rated: 4.5/5 Aug 24, 2022 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene A pleasant surprise.
