Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), a teenager, arrives in a glade at the center of a giant labyrinth. Like the other youths dumped there before him, he has no memory of his previous life. Thomas quickly becomes part of the group and soon after demonstrates a unique perspective that scores him a promotion to Runner status -- those who patrol the always-changing maze to find an escape route. Together with Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), the only female, Thomas tries to convince his cohorts that he knows a way out.

Udita Jhunjhunwala Livemint As director Wes Ball builds the eeriness around the complex entrapment of a community of boys living a Lord Of The Flies type existence, he is ably aided by imaginative and well-executed production design and special effects. Yasmin G Without a doubt, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Both in terms of realism and the quality of the monsters. All three films were a great success with all types of audiences. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/27/25 Full Review Caleb S. I think the acting in this isn’t there. Or maybe it’s the writing. Either way, it’s just trope after trope, but the world-building has something intriguing that makes me still want to know what happens. This is the first of three movies, but this is the only one with the maze—which is the most intriguing part. I would say this trilogy isn’t as good as the Hunger Games, and probably on par with the Divergent series (a series that I’m not sure was even finished). Still worth a watch though, but definitely not on the top of my list. But it’s not at the bottom either. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review daniel Y. So good I loved it how is this not higher with Rotten Tomatoes and audience score its paced so well Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review Juju S Le plot est plutôt intéressant et j'aime la volonté que Thomas a de vouloir découvrir ce qu'il y a au-delà du labyrinthe. Je trouve cependant qu'il y a trop de questions en suspens ce qui m'a sorti un peu du film. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/23/25 Full Review Lynn G Perhaps if I had never read the book I could give this a higher rating. But the translation to movie format lost SO much of the character development, and the Grievers and actual challenges were very different from what the author created with his imagination. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/15/25 Full Review Princess L Casting was amazingly well put together. As a comparison to the visual image of certain prominent elements like the walls and the freaky spider robots one gets from reading the book, the movie didn't disappoint. Credit to the writer.
