Empire Magazine Rated: 2/5 Dec 30, 2006 Full Review John von Rhein Chicago Tribune You would be better off investing in the worthy EMI recording that serves as the soundtrack, or the home video of the 1992 Malfitano-Domingo production. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 12, 2003 Full Review Melinda Bargreen Seattle Times With three excellent principal singers, a youthful and good-looking diva and tenor and richly handsome locations, it's enough to make you wish Jacquot had left well enough alone and just filmed the opera without all these distortions of perspective. Audience Member So so so so so so so GOOD! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member A good adaptation of Puccini's classic... it's not my favourite of his operas, thus, even were the film the greatest in history, I don't think I'd be able to rate it much more than this, yet this film version is enjoyable, aesthetically beautiful, and showcasts some fine acting and vocal performances. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Really difficult to rate this, because it really can't be compared to live opera performance or "real" movies. A Great idea to do an opera DVD like this. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member This has everything an opera should have! Great passion, pain, love, beautiful people, drama and death - and very good singers! Wonderfull as an opera, but not so great as a movie. Showing clips from the recording at the ending ruined it a little. But I still loved it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review Audience Member the best drama ever!
