Jesse Doppelt Spectrum Culture A grab-bag of trendy horror elements that fails to fully find its footing. Sep 13, 2023 Full Review Manuel Betancourt FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I found myself more intellectually engaged with as opposed to viscerally engaged, which is not something you want to say about a horror-thriller. Aug 17, 2023 Full Review Alan French Sunshine State Cineplex Greg Pritikin helps the thoroughly modern film feel like a true throwback. Despite a limited budget, the images he crafts with DP Antonio Riestra are quite spectacular. Rated: 6/10 Aug 7, 2023 Full Review Bobby LePire Film Threat The Mistress is well-shot, and the acting is strong. The ending, though, so brilliantly upends and alters perceptions that it elevates the production into must-see territory. Rated: 9/10 Aug 3, 2023 Full Review Mark Dujsik Mark Reviews Movies It's kind of silly, to say the least, and intentionally confounding... Rated: 1.5/4 Jul 28, 2023 Full Review Robert Kojder Flickering Myth Everything about The Mistress feels too concerned with the story and less about creating believable characters Rated: 2/5 Jul 26, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

david c The cast turns in an admirable effort but the film never manages to generate any fear at all. The whole thing drags overall and then collapses with the final "twist," which is frankly stolen from a well-known movie that does it much better. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/24 Full Review James M Very slow, boring and poor acting. Don't waste your time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Patrick S I don't know if I've ever seen a movie in which the music has tried so hard to kill its film. It's like whoever wrote the musical score thought, "I'm going to write the most dramatic, traditionally horror-sounding thing possible straight out of the 1930s." It completely takes away from anything on screen. They could have used NO music and it would have been better. John Magaro (the husband) delivers some terrible lines, and there is no chemistry between him and Chasten Harmon (the wife). He doesn't even get to "turn it on" until much too late in the film. I just...don't know what else to say about this movie. Luckily, Chasten performs well here as a distressed and scared wife, but again, it's too late into the movie to carry. Please don't watch this movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/17/24 Full Review Jerod S Crazy girlfriend wasn't scary. and the manner in which she was haunting the newlywed's turn of the century house wasn't scary either. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/21/23 Full Review Voodoo V It passed the time ok I guess but if this "Horror movie" was any more "woke" it would be a comedy. ( Best watched in MST3K Style ) Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/18/23 Full Review Bunny K The intro is way to long. Not gonna spoil it but please save your time. This movie is not worth it. And the title doesnt match the plot of the movie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 08/16/23 Full Review Read all reviews
