Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Putting the "fun" in "dysfunction" is what The Mitchells vs. The Machines is about, and what family doesn't have some issues? Jan 13, 2022 Full Review Esther Zuckerman Thrillist It's the kind of movie you immediately want to watch again and again. Jul 29, 2021 Full Review Jodie Hare Bitch Media In its celebration of these characters... this film demonstrates how indispensable every single one of us is, and how much those living with disabilities have to offer the world, if only people took the time to notice. Jun 4, 2021 Full Review Michael Clark Epoch Times What the “Machine” filmmakers did here is to point this out in a humorous and lighthearted manner why AI is the last thing humanity needs at the moment. To be sure, it is a cautionary tale and does so without any furrow-browed, tsk-tsk, finger-wagging. Rated: 4/5 Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Jillian Chilingerian Offscreen With Jillian The Mitchells vs. The Machines puts a new spin on the dysfunctional family trope by setting it in the midst of a smartphone apocalypse. Aug 22, 2023 Full Review Rick Bentley KGET-TV (Bakersfield, CA) Rianda and Rowe deliver their smart script with animation that ranges from traditional to chaotic. Even when the presentation jumps around, the film never loses focus. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 10, 2023 Full Review Read all reviews

I implore everyone who can go see The Mitchells vs the Machines in theaters Now and tomorrow. Had a wonderful time all over again and first timers will too! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/20/21 Full Review Jacob C. Best movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/28/25 Full Review James S Just seen this film today .. it’s fantastic ! Possibly the best film of its type I’ve ever seen. The pacing and script are brilliant .. some real laugh out loud moments .. a must see film ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/27/25 Full Review Danillo S O filme não aborda os personagens o suficiente e fica enrolado ao arco principal. Temas infantis demais, que pode ser pra toda família, mas não a quem quer achar um filme bem cativante. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/25/25 Full Review K G An artistic & amazing family movie. The casting was nailed. Abbi Jacson as Katie Mitchell sounded very realistic as an 18-year-old as I hear them. Maya Rudolph is obviously, the mom who is Linda. It was funny to have a grown man, Mike Rianda, portray Aaron, the youngest. And Olivia Coleman was the best with portraying the evil phone device/AI who was PAL. The animation is also creative & artistic: the general looks so like clay 2D but it is working. Then there is editing with 2D drawings/collages adding onto scenes so a Mitchell made this movie more appealing & live action cutouts. It is real humorous. Many quotes from it will go down in history. The portrayal of PALs fate in a glass of water was hilarious (the way she reacted) - these do not always have to be dark & brutal. And the characterization is the best part. Katie is a filmmaker & used to have a great relationship with her father (who was technophobic) but got strained & the family was dysfunctional. The Mitchell's were not ideal unlike others (I.e: the Poseys). When PAL would be sending away the "foolish" humans, this dysfunctional family must function to save humanity. Those Mitchell's had outsmarted AI - they are wierd & according to the movie "Spies in Disguise", the world needs anybody wierd - wierd can be cool. So - natural/human intelligence can be better than Artificial Intelligence. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/24/25 Full Review Jacopo D Si ok bello ma rimane superficiale per la sua banalissima trama e per la sua morale un po' troppo semplice e poco originale.
