Audience Member The true story of Andy McNab with the SAS Rated 2/5 Stars •  Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Audience Member More of a character film than a war film. It depicts the now famous Bravo Two Zero mission from the perspective of Chris Ryan the only member of the squad that managed to allude capture or death during the mission. Paul Greengrass' direction is fabulous using what appears to be real night vision in some shots which adds a more documentary feel to the film. The tension created through the use of the editing and the direction in the film is unbelievable. There are moments where you are literally on the edge of your seat. The real credit for the whole film goes to Paul McGann who portrays Ryan. His performance really brings you into the film and for me is the best part of the whole film. Whether or not the events took place how they do in the film The One That Got Away is still a fantastic drama which instead of relying on battle scenes relies on the characters and their journey. I would say that this is the Platoon of Iraq War 1 films. Greengrass really shows his talent as a director here and you can see early glimpses of his directorial style and how it evolves to the recent Bourne films and Green Zone. Based on a true story and told in a different manner to Andy Mcnab's ''Bravo Two Zero'' the one that got away is a must watch for any one interested in the gulf and for everyone who has seen or read Bravo Two Zero.
