I'm Just J
The scenario in the movie allows for an abstract "what if" that helps the audience think about the essence of the situation vs getting caught up in mundane details. There's perfectly timed comic relief making a serious topic refreshing to engage in. The cast was well matched and the script flows naturally

Film Review: The Quest – Get Back Your Ex
By a Film Critic for CineSage Journal
A Gripping Psychological Thriller Cloaked in Redemption and Revelation
In The Quest – Get Back Your Ex, Rabbi Avi Schwartz delivers a bold and unflinching cinematic journey into the heart of broken relationships, personal reckoning, and the soul’s desperate cry for redemption. What begins as a surreal abduction premise evolves into a profound exploration of emotional truth, orchestrated with spiritual undertones and raw human intensity.
Josh Jones shines as the enigmatic mastermind of the “Path Charger,” a mysterious chamber where three divorced couples are forced to face the collapse of their marriages. Jones plays him with chilling serenity—a puppeteer of pain and healing, never raising his voice, yet always in control.
The film’s most emotionally shattering scene belongs to Javier Jorge and Tatiana DeLeon, whose storyline unravels with brutal honesty. Jorge’s realization of betrayal and manipulation lands with seismic weight, while DeLeon balances vulnerability and denial with nuanced precision. Their chemistry is volatile, their confrontation heartbreaking.
In poignant contrast, Doug Walker and Suzanne Kovi deliver one of the film’s most delicate performances. As a couple quietly yearning for reconciliation, their subtle exchanges and pained silences say more than any outburst could. Kovi’s portrayal of love restrained by fear is deeply affecting, and Walker grounds the role with a tenderness that lingers. Their unresolved ending leaves the door open for a sequel—and for hope.
Rabbi Avi Schwartz, both narrator and actor, commands attention with a dual performance that is physically and emotionally magnetic. As a fierce commando guiding the participants through the crucible, and the reflective voice narrating their inner journeys, Schwartz delivers a performance layered with gravitas and compassion. His direction is equally notable—fearless, emotionally tuned, and spiritually resonant. Schwartz proves himself a gifted director and actor, with a rare ability to merge vision with performance and bring out the best in his ensemble.
The film’s indie aesthetic works in its favor. Minimalist design, symbolic imagery, and intimate camerawork keep the focus on raw performances. The spiritual and emotional stakes feel high—because they are.
Verdict: 8.5/10
Avi Schwartz’s unique vision, paired with standout performances by Josh Jones, Javier Jorge, Tatiana DeLeon, Doug Walker, and Suzanne Kovi, makes The Quest – Get Back Your Ex a spiritually charged, emotionally daring, and psychologically gripping film. Schwartz emerges as a gifted director and actor—one unafraid to confront the truths most films only hint at.
