Justin Chang FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) A very tense, engrossing, and well-acted movie. Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Kerry Lengel Arizona Republic It's hot stuff, and Alayan handles it with the practiced skill of juggler casually flicking torches in the air. Rated: 4.5/5 Jul 25, 2019 Full Review Zaki Hasan San Francisco Chronicle A fascinating and unsettling look at the ramifications of marital infidelity when shone through [a] specific geopolitical prism. Rated: 3/4 Jul 11, 2019 Full Review Joseph Fahim Middle East Eye Alayan's Jerusalem is a place where individual privacy is non-existent; where conformity is demanded for sheer survival; where any citizen who questions the establishment is immediately punished. Jul 3, 2021 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills Reports is ultimately moving. If there's a lesson to be drawn here, it's that when a government relies upon repression, even apolitical citizens are at risk of being sucked into peril. Audience Member A layered and gripping drama Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Great film about a casual affair that results in tragic and sad consequences. Tense and suspenseful Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member This is PINNACLE FILMMAKING! A popular rule of filmmaking is to SHOW IT, DON'T SAY IT. Sloppy filmmkaers have characters who think aloud, because they can't figure out how to convey the message and propel the story without dialogue. This film crafts individual, memorable, fully-realized characters, then sets in motion a story that leaves no loose ends. The script is tight, the editing is lean, performances are compelling, and the story is brilliantly told. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Amy H Great twists and turns all the way until the end. Both the story and the acting were superb. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/06/19 Full Review Audience Member This is a great movie, well done.
