Ryan Lattanzio indieWire While the film suffers from a screenplay as delusional as its characters, this thriller serves up some potent images and a juicy premise. Rated: C+ Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Miguel Romero Fernández Cinemanía (Spain) [Olga Kurylenko and Kevin Janssens] blend together seamlessly into a matchless framework on human nature. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 29, 2020 Full Review Shannon McGrew Nightmarish Conjurings The Room features a unique premise that evolves into an unsettling trap that's hard to escape from. Rated: 3/5 Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness With each rising action, The Room creates new opportunities for something deep and ethically interesting. Vexingly, all of this is squandered at nearly every turn. Rated: 2/5 Jul 14, 2020 Full Review Caitlin Kennedy Daily Dead In spite of its messy third act, The Room is not a lost cause. What it does well, it does really well, and the trapped concept makes it a perfect watch on one of these lonely evenings in. It comes with a soft recommendation. Rated: 3/5 Jun 25, 2020 Full Review Tim Brennan About Boulder The Room has a couple of jump scares, but it leans closer to psychological horror in the first two acts. The third act features clever camera trickery and some trippy imagery while remaining rooted in character. Apr 26, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

thomas a The movie isn't bad overall. The idea of this magical room inside your house fills those watching around you with questions and desires on what they would do and how does it work which is great. It's quite a unique concept. The reason I have rated it 2 stars however, is because it was very hard to watch two individuals (who are meant to be adults) make such poor decisions. The beginning of the movie started out relatively promising however, the bad decisions quickly started...and when they were done making bad decisions they started making delusional ones instead. So quite often I had my hand on my head looking down in frustration at how anyone would think "THIS" is what I'm going to do. It would of been far far better if the roles and actors were geared towards teenage couple stumbling across this room as you would expect most of what happened in the movie to be done by lessor intelligent and/or immature people but not two fully grown adults. Overall, I would say it is worth watching because it isn't "Bad" but bewarned, you will be screaming at the screen soon into it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/10/25 Full Review Craig B Excellent and intriguing movie. Great performances from ex-Bond girl Olga Kurylenko and Kevin Janssens underpin a dark, brooding and compelling story which asks the age-old question: if you could have anything and everything, what would you wish for? However, there is a catch... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/27/24 Full Review Hugo S After moving to a remote house, a couple finds a secret room that magically grants them unlimited wishes. The unusual discovery allows the couple to satisfy their immediate material desires but this fairy tale becomes a nightmare when they decide to materialize their most ambitious wish: a child. “The Room” tackles the fears of two main aspects of our humanity: parenthood and aging. The premise “be careful with what you wish for” is well represented in the second half of the movie as the couple deals with the dire consequences of their own desperate choices. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/23/24 Full Review T T It is an interesting and watchable movie. The main problem with it is that it was stretched too long and became repetitive and boring after a while. The director could have easily shaved off 20-30 minutes from this 100 minute movie without affecting it. The concept itself was creative, but the acting was just average. The cinematography was good. Although mostly predictable, there were a couple of good plot twists and turns. Overall, it's ok. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Annoying characters. Not a lot of tension, but a few good ideas. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/23 Full Review dave l The ideas this creative piece aimed for failed to ever mature. The plot was definitely interesting. The acting by the two leads quite good. The cinematography and set dressings were evocative and interesting. I wanted to like it more than I did and wish it had held together better as it progressed. The twists were predictable, sadly, as was the ending. I cannot say it failed…nor can I say it succeeded. It was a film that never really became tedious yet it ultimately proved to be a fence sitter.
