An astonishingly powerful film, especially given that it is virtually unknown in both Germany and the US.

An absorbing and well-directed study of guilt and responsiblity. The cinematography is excellent, and the performances are solid too. The musical score is too obviously borrowed from "The Third Man," and it draws far too much attention to itself, nearly ruining several scenes.
