Virgo V Sun in the Last Days of the Shogunate (Bakumatsu Taiyōden), also known as A Sun-Tribe Myth from the Bakumatsu Era, is a 1957 Japanese comedy film directed by Yūzō Kawashima. It was written by Yūzō, Shōhei Imamura and Keiichi Tanaka. The film stars Frankie Sakai, Sachiko Hidari and Yōko Minamida. It was produced and distributed by the Nikkatsu Corporation. Vision wrote: “what’s better than samurai’s and sex? One of the many Japanese traditions never talked about. It is the hypocrisy surrounding prostitution that puts an end to. It is about to be outlawed in Japan. With it comes the abuse of power and financial greed. The film was voted the fifth best Japanese film of all time in a poll of 140 Japanese critics and filmmakers conducted by the magazine Kinema Junpo in 1999. I didn’t see it in that way. I saw a bleak, boring and bashful display of the honourable Samurai entangled within brothels instead of the fighting style they are usually cast in. I would give this film two fries out of five and that’s being generous. The screenplay was tasteless and the performances were mediocre.” Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/12/25 Full Review Audience Member "Akıllı biri değişir, aptal biri asla...
