Nick F 6d The Texican is one of Audie Murphy’s last films – it was made in 1966 and five years later he was tragically killed in a plane crash. This is a solid Western with an interesting storyline – Murphy plays an ex-sheriff falsely accused of a crime he didn't commit and hiding out across the Mexican border. But when he hears the man who framed him has now murdered his brother, he rides back into Texas to seek revenge. The man he intends to kill is saloon owner Luke Starr, a gritty performance by Hollywood veteran Broderick Crawford. Events unfolds quickly, with Murphy having to take on Starr’s hired guns while also getting involved with Starr’s girl-friend (Diane Lorys). The explosive outcome is well-staged, with Murphy looking and behaving tougher than in many of his films. The Texican was filmed in Spain, but you would never notice that from the scenery, though now and then you do notice some imprecise voice-dubbing of the largely Spanish cast, a feature of most Spaghetti Westerns. See more 01/21/2015 A fairly standard western vehicle for Audie Murphy in pretty much the same vein as he'd been doing for nearly two decades with this genre. See more 06/14/2012 not bad but it could of been better.. not really worth watching it unless you love western movies. The acting was great.. but the storyline was a little dull See more 12/20/2011 I actually enjoyed this Western. It's not the best but after awhile it'll grow on you & it turns out pretty good.I really liked Broderick Crawford as John Starr. He was great as the evil town leader having his gang kill anybody who stands in his way. You'll probably root for him to get what's coming to him in the end See more Read all reviews
