William Bibbiani TheWrap The Thicket is an awful story, in a great way. Sep 6, 2024 Full Review Rex Reed Observer Juliette Lewis steals the show in a bleak, action-heavy Western that lacks the depth to match its gritty visuals. Rated: 2/4 Sep 6, 2024 Full Review Craig D. Lindsey RogerEbert.com The unlimited amount of Sturm and Drang on display will turn away those looking for a fun, engaging shoot-’em-up. Rated: 2/4 Sep 6, 2024 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Common Sense Media This Western probably could have used more space to dig a little further into some of its characters, but, even as-is, it's a gorgeous, rousing movie focused on two fascinatingly damaged souls. Rated: 4/5 Dec 24, 2024 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots By trying too hard to be gritty, complex, and profound, this lackluster Western ends up bringing very little to the table. Dec 17, 2024 Full Review Sebastian Zavala Kahn Ventana Indiscreta It combines clichés with a well-crafted atmosphere and outstanding performances, especially from Juliette Lewis. Although the plot is not innovative, its execution and visual style make the film feel unique and effective. Full review in Spanish. Rated: 4/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews

justin b I will say, the trailer made the film seem like it would have more high octane action, but whats in the trailer in terms of action is in the movie and nothing more. But, the writing, acting and cinematography made up for it. My wife and I really enjoyed the film, so much I actually want to read the book now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Erin It was a really good movie. It had a really good plot and storyline. The actors and actresses did an excellent job. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/09/24 Full Review Joseph S So fantastic. Dinklage is awesome, of course, but not even the best part. Levon Hawke is a revelation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/07/24 Full Review Victor L Not sure why theres a lack of promotion for this movie. I didnt even know it was coming out. I saw it tonight and Im glad I did because its an exceptional film. The whole cast did great. Peter Dink stood out and really nailed this roll. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/06/24 Full Review Erik C Film is an interesting thing in the 2000s where sometimes you stumble upon something truly special that if it weren’t for word of mouth you may have never heard of it. While The Thicket got quite the big theatric / festival response I was beyond delighted when I was late to catch it & saw it available on tubi. My praise for this movie can’t be higher. From frame one an overwhelming intrigue kicks in and by the final frame that same intrigue remains until you watch again & probably again. While a familiar tale at points, the further we get into this road movie the more originality boils over. The cast is beyond top notch with Peter Dinkledge certifying his role as a badass bounty Hunter and Juliette Lewis transforming completly into a persona as Cut Throat Bill, the stardom doesn’t stop there. Andrew Schultz appears as a wise cracking yet villainous and believable brothel house runner & the role strays from his usual outfit yet fits incredibly. I’d love to say that we can stop at the cast being amazing but this film is an all around awe with Cinematography that’s accented by Calgary landscape yet looks more incredible with Guillermo Garza’s keen eye. Director Elliott Lester captained this ship in -35 degree conditions and the brutal shoot shows in this films portrayal. For horror fans I compare the shoot to screen experience of the likes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre where the brutal conditions translated to the portrayal of the world we are now living in for the next 1hr 48mins. I can’t scream enough from building tops, watch The Thicket when you can! It’s streaming on Tubi & available on VOD for rent. No excuses will be suffice to not see The Thicket. 4 1/2 out of 5 stars -LFHG Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Matt C Really fun film - one of my favorites this year. Juliette Lewis is a badass. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/23/25 Full Review Read all reviews
