Snappy and very fast-moving, this documentary addresses the issue of artificial intelligence in an unusually accessible way, carefully bringing the audience along to help us understand the complex world of machine learning.

The Thinking Game won’t allay any fears about this new technology being used for wrongdoing, but it does at least portray the intentions behind its development. A well-explained tribute to innovation that will be accessible to even the least tech-savvy.

A very solid look at a seemingly transformative technology. Did feel like a bit of an AI sales book though. Interesting to hear Demis’ background and thinking but something felt a little bandwagony and sycophantic, self indulgent about the whole thing. Wasn’t a particularly challenging documentary. Watched on Amazon Prime but it was recommended to me through my YouTube algorithm.

The film gives an up-to-the-minute (as of late 2024, anyway) of the progress of AI beyond what humans can do (writing essays, creating cat videos) to what we can't do (solving the protein-folding problem) and beyond. What next? Demis Hassabis tells us in the film: genomics, theorem proving, quantum chemistry, food science, fusion, particle physics and climate science. I think that he and his team will do it. I loved the film - it is pacy, full of content and seems to give a fairly balanced view of Deepmind, Demis' company. It also has an unexpected recurring train theme - so that's a tick for all the train buffs out there. It's a film that should be seen by everyone - if those other problems (fusion etc) are solved, then the future will be unimaginable.

Amazingly interesting and inspiring - a MUST SEE. It is such a classical story of human innovation, that will be taught as a household big history, probably more so than the lightbulbs by Thomas Edison.

Good intro movie to AI conceptualization to development. I appreciated that it didn’t get too technical. Great explanation about General intelligence and how that is different than programming something to do one thing.

This movie is a must see. I wish it was a series as AI is changing so fast the advances since the movie was filmed are staggering. It answers questions and raises quite a few as well.
