Successful OB-GYN Gerald Boyer (James Garner) and his wife, Beverly (Doris Day), are happily married with two children. At a dinner gathering, Beverly discusses her favorite soap, Happy Soap, and how much she enjoys it. When Beverly is introduced to the company's owner, she is immediately offered a contract as the product's spokeswoman for TV commercials. However, Gerald has a hard time adjusting to his wife's newfound fame, and plots to foil Beverly's career in order to keep her at home.

Just what you'd expect from a comedy movie with Doris Day in it. It is indeed underrated, probably because of some outdated elements, but on the other hand it does seem to have been ahead of its time in other elements. The Thrill of It All features perfectly curated comedic critique of the advertising industry, with nice quips, a relatively enjoyable story, and neat cinematography.

I love Doris Day and Rock Hudson and usually these movies of a different era have a certain amount of sexism in them that you can ignore but this movie was just over the top sexist. Hard to enjoy.

Synopsis
