Hayden S #TheTigersApprentice was such a huge disappointment. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't. The dialogue is corny, and the story is generic, we've seen it a million times. The action is good for the most part, but my biggest issue is the animation. When you watch it, you'll think that this movie was made in the early 2000's. It looks super weird. I now understand why it went straight to streaming, instead of going to theaters, like it was planned. 3/5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/25/24 Full Review Audience Member This Action Comedy Original Animation Movie From Paramount+ based on a book is really good, kind of funny, animation is not bad and acting is really good and you can feel for them. Do like how they use the Zodiacs and the Chinese New Year for the whole plot of the movie by saving the world and that is an all Asian voice actors in the film as well. Plus with all Zodiacs having different powers and personalities and you get to learn more of their Lunar New Year and that Chi they use can be use be good not Evil and how story told more of their culture instead of putting Karate or Kung Fu like usually do because of that they were available to tell a different storyline. Couple flaws like a typical teenager who donegal fit in and he learns to believe himself or herself to save the world and they have a typical friendship with a person he never meet and later they becomes really good friends and Tom is 15 and in the novel he is 12 and so why they age is so different or it could be the voice was younger at the time of filming before came out and 15 felt perfect and don’t know but the age doesn’t make sense. One last thing love interest in here doesn’t make sense she basically a background actor and only arc she had is her well her background and they how they fit in the story and so they couldn’t use a different tactic on that itself and also typical parent or guardian dies for the hero to rise up, now I am not saying it doesn’t work but it time to chance that up too. All in all definitely a one time or whatever in the mood for a decent animation movie. I give a A-👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/24 Full Review Derek L The Tiger's Apprentice does have a rather interesting concept that respects its culture, even though the film had its mediocre moments from its storytelling and characters that could had been offered more opportunities to shine. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/12/24 Full Review Jaylee C I loved it! Had some funny moments, some teachable moments, and heartfelt moments. Definitely would recommend this movie to friends, especially with kids! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Catina S Fun, powerful and great animation Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/24 Full Review Lan S It was fun and entertaining! I hope they make a sequel! Andy Klein Associated Press I admit we've seen this story a million times in a million forms, but I thought it was nicely done and funny when it meant to be. Feb 13, 2024 Full Review Peter Sobczynski RogerEbert.com A movie that has a couple of amusing moments and nice visual flourishes but not nearly enough to combat the resounding mediocrity of the storytelling. Rated: 2/4 Feb 2, 2024 Full Review Randy Myers San Jose Mercury News The animation is less surefooted at the start in a prologue set in Hong Kong, but it quickly improves when the action shifts to San Francisco, gloriously re-created. The vocal cast is mighty impressive and includes the ever-busy Michelle Yeoh. Rated: 3/4 Feb 1, 2024 Full Review Graeme Tuckett Stuff.co.nz The Tiger's Apprentice is so obviously assembled from ideas from other, better films that even the occasional visual flourish isn't enough to elevate the finished product into anything you'll ever be particularly happy you saw. Rated: 2.5/5 Apr 14, 2024 Full Review Luke Goodsell ABC News (Australia) Despite the film's generic take on its source material, there's more than enough colour, energy and rapid-fire action to keep younger viewers engaged. Apr 4, 2024 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) Though there is plenty going on here, a distinct dullness sets in once all characters are established, and battle lines are drawn for a predictable finale.
