Deborah Ross The Spectator So this isn't fresh, exactly, but it is tense and exciting and well performed and you do end up caring about the people you've been manipulated into caring about. I ask you: what more could you want from a trip to the cinema? Aug 30, 2018 Full Review Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online The Town is a definite must-see. Rated: A Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Jim Schembri The Age (Australia) As far as a developing directing talent goes, The Town is to Ben Affleck what Pulp Fiction was to Quentin Tarantino. It's that good. Rated: 4/5 Oct 22, 2010 Full Review Danilo Castro Next Best Picture It’s a well-executed mashup of set pieces and character dynamics that fail to build on what came before. Which, truth be told, still makes for a pretty entertaining viewing. Rated: 7/10 Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson While it's not as epic and well-acted as "Heat" and nowhere near as visceral as "The Departed," "The Town" can hold it's own in the crime thriller department. Rated: 4/5 Sep 4, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review If Affleck hasn’t already discovered that this is his niche, he’s encouraged to continue bringing us well-executed Boston crime stories like this one. Benjamin H The Town is a highly suspenseful and well cast crime thriller that sees Ben Afflect skillfully directing some intense and electrifying action setpieces with a really fitting gritty tone, in spite of it being somewhat superficial and lacking a proper emotional punch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/25 Full Review Mons G Exciting thriller. Jeremy Renner is terrific in it. If they'd let him play the lead role instead of Affleck it would have been even better (sorry but Ben Affleck is not dynamic enough as an actor for this kind of movie). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/16/25 Full Review mark g Turbo charged, white knuckle ride. Strong and gritty performances! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/25 Full Review Fabrícia F Tenso, arrepiante e surreal até o último minuto. Um roubo a banco que desencadeia uma série de eventos de risco que afeta todos os personagens envolvidos nessa história impressionante. Menção honrosa para Blake Lively que apresenta uma performance convincente no papel de uma jovem mãe viciada em drogas. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/25 Full Review Blu B A Classic Action crime Drama. Affleck has really good direction in this and excellent cinematography. The setting is really memorable and the actin scenes are first rate. You can absolutely see the inspiration from Heat in those scenes. This is part romance and part heist movie together and pacing wise does a excellent job going between slow riveting romance and white knuckle action. Everything else is really good. There are some minor issues with it. Affleck is excellent and Renner is really good too. The love interest is good but isn't as strong as Affleck. He defintely makes her better as they do have good chemistry. The other 2 guys in the gang are just kind of there and no real serious attempt is made to give them the same depth so there sacrifice kind of comes off not as powerful. The FBI agent lead is god but a bit on the generic side. It can feel like also at times too with the drama elements like his Dad, his relationship with Renner, and going between the actual investigation and the romance can get a little messy and not smoothly linked to each other as it could be. There are a couple plot conviences too. The FBI guy saw Renner at the exact moment he's about to escape with thousands of officers around the Park. But the direction, strong acting overall, and pacing really hold it together and keep you invested despite some flaws. Anyone who is a fan of crime/heist movies. romances, the director, or any actors in this should check this out. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/25 Full Review Dave G I finally gave this a second watch and I have to see it was well worth it. Jeremy renner store each scene. The unlikely love story that u folds is so good . This makes me feel that this movie might be in the same universe as good will bunting . The fact that it’s in Boston and the close composers . This movie takes its time in building the tension necessary . It’s a simple Movie with a solid story definitely something worth owning on Blu-ray or steel Book Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Read all reviews
